GUID to Native Key

The whitepaper lists 50+ provider types. For the ones that don't natively support GUIDs (e.g. Solana account addresses, IPFS CIDs), where exactly does the GUID-to-native-key index live? Inside the holon's stored data on that provider, in a side-channel index, or somewhere else? And what happens if that index is lost?
